Cut to Ronnie’s post-match interview, I’m paraphrasing, but essentially it’s a car crash:

He can’t really be arsed with Snooker, most of the time he’s ‘just slapping the balls around’.
He’d rather be playing in Crawley, which although shit, on balance isn’t as shit as constantly getting harangued by ~~sad bastards~~ fans on his way in and out of the Crucible Theater.
He’s not surprised he’s still playing at the top level, most recent players are shite.
He’d probably have to lose ‘an arm and a leg’ to fall out of the top 15

Always been more of a Hendry fan over the years, and consequently not so much of a Ronnie fan, but I’ve warmed to him a lot in recent years
He’s the only player worth watching at the moment. I sat through the Clarke - McGill match last night til gone midnight. Absolute scandalous quality for the last 16 of the world championship. Neither player got higher than a 78 in 25 frames. Snooker is dead if that is an indicator of the future.

Think Ronnie is spot on about the new breed also. They’re not good enough. Some of the lower ranked guys I’ve watched over the years have been woeful. Surprised they can eke out a living doing it

He didn’t say he is too good for the game. He responded to a question about why he thinks him, Williams and Higgins are still at the top 25 years on.

A lot of other things he says do annoy though. He hasn’t threatened retirement for a while has he, that was an annual claim a few years back.

Saw Hendry and O’Sullivan play up close a couple of times when we got good seats at the Scottish Open. Absolute voodoo shit some of the shots they were knocking out. Had a few beers with John Higgins and Hendry back in the day too.

Saw Hendry at an exhibition 4 years ago, along with Jimmy White, Dennis Taylor, John Virgo and Steve Davis. Couldn’t have made it more clear that he didn’t want to be there ( Hendry that is). Turned up looking like a hobo as well. Never meet your heroes!

C_J Hendry used to practice at the snooker club where I lived in Broxburn when he was a kid. It used to annoy my dad, as he got booted off a table now and again when he came in and it was full.
