Never quite understood the fuss around steakhouses. It’s not like steak is difficult to cook at home. If I’m going to drop a ton of money on a restaurant meal it’s going to be for something either too difficult or too fussy to make on my own.
A list of restaurants
None of those Steakhouses mentioned are in the same league as Keens in NY. Their Porterhouse for two or Mutton Chop are spectacular.
Just had a look at Keens, the terrible branding aside, it looks ace.

Keens is my fave chop house in NY. Tremendous dining rooms and the place is steeped in city history (est 1885). Peter Lugers, Gallaghers and Smith & Wollensky have also been top notch. Generously sized so need for starters in any of them, although I would never turn down the jumbo shrimp cocktail
More like Oucho when the bill comes.
That one’s for Dave!
The seats at the Goucho I went to were cowhide.
Very elegant I thought.
Had steak at this joint in NYC and it was superb. Laid back. Geat stuff
I’m with JYW, steak is difficult to fuck. Congratulations to all these incredible restaurants who’ve located an excellent supplier.
Along_the_Wire yeah it’s a lump of meat!

Same could be said for London. We have our fair share of poncy restaurants in San Francisco but I swear only tourists go to them.
A great steak is all about preparation, timing and seasoning, not to mention the quality of the cut
