Skipped lunch today and had the viking burger here and a pint. The French really know how to cook a burger. Double stacked as well.

RichM when I’ve been recently (a few times in the last year or so), it’s been pretty much the same… the buffalo burger is magnificent for starters… problem is it’s so so bad for you - the next day you can smell it coming out of your pores

The thing about burgers is really you can make your own at home just as well (especially if you have a good bakery on your doorstep for fresh buns and you buy steak irons), so there are an excess of places now charging a lot for a burger that is nothing special. Seems pointless spending that money on a burger when there are loads of other good places to eat.

I can’t make them as good as I can buy them and I’m a half decent home cook. Plus it’s just the ballache of doing it when you can literally walk in a gaff and some cunt just hands one to you done and dusted in less than a minute.

Yeah, I didn’t really mean actually make the patty itself from scratch, I meant buy decent patties from the butchers and cook them and assemble the burger yourself.

A guy who won best burger 3 years in a row in Melbourne taught me how to make a proper one. Wasn’t anything like I imagined either. Haven’t actually got round to doing it yet. The ones round me are too good to bother.

When I do knock one together at home with bought patty I use Heston’s burger sauce recipe which is mint and easy as .

Jules72 the monkey fingers were alright. The dead hippie was tiny compared to what it used to be. I was lucky enough to go to Meat Liquor when it first kicked off above a pub in New Cross 12 years ago. To be fair there were no where near as many burger places around 12 years ago so meat liquor was a bit of a new trend.
