Old-Dutch I do have to laugh at the absolute fucking state of the street food craze. The point of street food is that it was cheap and representative of food you can buy from street vendors in Asia. There’s a couple of places on my High St. - one a Sri Lankan ‘street food’ restaurant (now closed) that was charging £6.50 for egg fried rice.

The other is a Lebanese ‘Street Food’ restaurant which took over from the Lebanses restaurant that it bought. The chefs and menu are exactly the same as before, except where you used to get a whole poussin you now only get a half and pay £3 more for it.

That’s if you’re lucky enough to be in London or Manchester, or well-heeled provincial towns like Chester or Altrincham that can support a slightly hipsterish market.

Everywhere else is Greggs - Vape Shop - Maccies - Bookies - KFC - Poundland

Irish street food does seem rather carb heavy I must say.

Smallman1 To be honest that’s just embarrassing. Not sure why anyone would buy that shite unless they were desperately homesick. Its what is sold is every local Spar over here.

Millsy i actually cant believe people would buy that in an actual foodmarket where there’s loads of other street food options.

      Madness

Talk about winging it. Not digging out Irish cuisine here either - the same would be true for any English street food offerings. We don’t have street food. Just mugs who will pay £8 for chips with curry sauce lol.

      PUTIN, FUCKING NUKE US NOW

Yea i baulked at the price for basically chips in this curry sauce

Old-Dutch The closest we have to a ‘street food’ is the bakers’, where people will nip in for a meat and potato pie or bacon sarnie.

Unfortunately, all the old small family chains - I’m talking about Gerrards (Chester), Waterfields (Liverpool over to Warrington and St Helens), Chatwins (Chester and Crewe area), are all being beaten on price by the shitter, uniform Greggs and PoundBakery (vom).

So we don’t even have decent pie shops anymore.

It’s national pie this week as it happens.

        Which is nice.

Yeah I guess Cornish pasties might qualify too. But it’s not like you can’t get them in bakeries.

A big part of the issue I have is balls on restaurants serving ’Street food" at inflated prices because it’s “so hot right now”.

It’s even worse when it’s done by actual street food vendors lol

Old-Dutch restaurants serving ’Street food" at inflated prices

          Swerve

          Old-Dutch
because it’s “so hot right now”.

Whopper magnet as per earlier post.

Will enlighten you with more observations when I’m back from the cereal bar my mate Jeswin has just opened

Benson’s nearest restaurant is Le Manoix.

          Fair play!

Smallman1 You’d hate it. All that butter and cheese. TBH I do not like it, too much mushroom and fish

I’ve been a couple of times, thought it sensayshballs.
