Heading to the Lakes tomorrow. Do some work on the ‘rents home. Shall be going to the Mortal Man in Troutbeck. Nothing incredible food-wise but a lovely 30 minute or so stroll from the house. Perfect for a pint and some reading.

Be careful about ordering anything with chips. You know, I know, but I always forget, Cumbrians seem to see it as a challenge to see how many kilos they can get on a plate.

I’m not sure. I know they had brews from Hawkshead and the Watermill last time but it been a few years for obvious reasons. And yeah totally with you. Nothing like a long hike with a pub at the end. Quintessential Britain countryside IMO.

And not too long unfortunately. 7 days. Maybe 10 depending. Not exactly a vacation either but it’ll be nice to be there and not here. If I was staying longer I’d try to meet up with a few of you degenerates. Next time! Take over the ‘rents house and bring Damo over for some tunes.

Cheers, MC. And I don’t mind a bit of rain. It can turn so quick there anyway so have to plan for it. I remember being caught in an absolute monsoon up on the Scafell Pike many moons ago. Torrential. Also put my foot in many a bog. But it’s all part of the experience.

And I’ll check that out, Mills. Good chance I’ve been before just not in on the name.

I always stay above the Wainwright’s pub in Langdale. Proper pub grub and lamb shanks are boss. My father in law has a timeshare in the Langdale estate so I get pissed in the pub and play snooker downstairs before staggering back. Every night. The Lakes are great.
