I’m with Ed on London being better than NYC. More choice of cuisine, or rather more restaurants serving different types. Yes, NYC does Italian really well, but falls short in terms of variety. Also, Americans are utterly shit at side dishes, specifically vegetables. Unless it’s brocolli or green beans in a mountain of salt and butter, or 16 varieties of potato, you’re fucked. And the wine lists are usually laughable. I was offered La Piat D’Or as a ‘classy, fruity French number’ at some decent restaurant. Presumably because they had run out of Black Tower. The fast food is great, but they gravitate to the next big thing all the time and then the queues are horrendous. Pizza and burgers they are obviously Kings of, and I love the soul food/Jewish diners dotted around.
