The only part of it which I thought was particularly dodgy was her post about Stalin taking 20 million Soviet lives as being “propagandist wiki infos” - but that post was from May 2020.
One of the main things I have a problem with in this whole affair is highlighted in this sentence from Buttechno “Being silent or making neutral posts with just ‘PEACE’ word—is the same support of Russian regime " - it’s a nasty rhetorical tool which those on the left seem to like always deploying with their causes including stuff like BLM, the bullshit idea that supposedly “silence is violence”, or not being explicitly against something has to automatically mean you’re completely for it. It’s a nonsense and entirely divisive. It leaves no room for nuance whatsoever. And that’s before you even get on to the fact that it’s more difficult for Nina to say more about this, which is also highlighted in the TIme article.
One other thing which that article refers to with the statement from Rebekah, is the fact that Nina seems to be getting singled out for public shaming. We’ve talked about Anfisa Letyago a fair bit quite recently in this thread, she’s also Russian and I’ve looked through her instagram and twitter and see only silence from her on the entire issue as well. Why is she also not receiving any criticism, for instance?
It seems Nastia has been one of those leading a witch hunt against Nina for a while now, even before this war started, and I don’t think it necessarily has much to do with any political stance she might have.
