SM001 it’s not for the most part, so I defo get the arguement.
I’m just curious looking at the scenario from the angle of say, Digweed plays artist live on Mixcloud feed, I assume (please correct me where I’m wrong because I really don’t know) said artist gets paid a royalty from Mixcloud, much like a club would pay a royalty through a live performance licence through PRS (or other?), so the recording becomes a bootleg.
Doubt there’s a DJ alive who could say they haven’t recorded off the radio or obtained a bootleg in their life. Obviously doesn’t make it right, but are the artists not being paid the first time round? Plus being paid again when I buy their music afterwards.
Just playing devil’s advocate, as I say 😉
