Why other countries more than others? Some are easier to have a go at than others. I’m reading a book on the horrors of the CIA and the things they have historically done around the world for US business, they are, I believe, the spark which started the current war in Ukraine, and yeah, as a government they essentially let thousands upon thousands of their own citizens kill each other every year for the sake of their gun industry. They’re cunts of the highest order. But, they don’t have public stonings of men and women, and they do have a well established professional golf tournament. It’s a matter of taste, timing and choices I guess.
I suppose the issue for me is that it’s a really easy option for a millionaire golfer to say fuck all, carry on with the PGA, and continue to make buckets of cash. To actively partake in the Saudi gig, to help white wash their international standing, to actively erode what has been your meal ticket for all of your career so far in the PGA, is an actively shitty choice. I just see them as capitalist psychos / tory shit cunts. If they where all younger players struggling to stay on the tour, it would make a bit more sense, or if golf was some sort of body fucking sport where you only get a few good years etc. But what the fuck is 51 year old Phil Mickelson with a net worth of $300 million gonna do with his winnings? Another platinum plated yacht? Fuck him.
