  • Whatever happened to Chris & James?

Any of the more seasoned followers remember these guys regularly appear on big line ups in the 90’s. Whatever happened to them?

This was a huge party anthem.

This one was a tune too…. no idea what happened to them. Probably accountants ….

IndustryStandard Definitely is. Remember seeing them at the Gallery and Renaissance at Cross. Fox Force Five was fun.

Doesn’t he do the Radio 1 breakfast show..

    Still living in Upminster…..i guess?

Great residents at Holywoods….as was Darren Emerson.

Had some great nights up there….Sasha, Kevin Saunderson and Tilt

Always had a soft spot for Chris &james from the gardening club days

Loved them. Played over here quite a bit back in the 90s

Dan Lived in the ’Woods from 94-6…… Culture Shock, bank holiday Clockworks, The Annex upstairs banging out Castle Trancealot……burger van outside! Good times…….

One I remember them playing at the Gardening club and Block at Ronson (when he was good)

They sometimes used to finish with Smells like Teen spirit.

I know it’s a banger, but they always played this.

Dan They sometimes used to finish with Smells like Teen spirit.

            So did Jeremy Healy!

alistair Huge track when dropped at the right moment. John Aquaviva played it down in Cork at Sir Henrys right about the time everyone in the place came up on their doves. Unbelievable scenes.

I went to one of those Clockwork Orange nights at Hollywood’s on a bank holiday Sunday, was honestly one of the best nights I’ve ever had. Marc Aurebach played iirc

nicksneddon some of them were pretty mental . Remember trying to get in the boot of a Maestro which was going to some after hours thing. Luckily me mate pulled me out as I’d only met them in the burger van line .

ThaT Suzzi Carr track was an absolute beast that summer

I remember queuing for one bank holiday Sunday after being at dave morales at the Camden palace the night before. I was in a right pickle and the queue was absolutely massive. never seen a club as rammed that night and it was near enough impossible to move but was one of the best nights out we had

Interesting re: Danny Rampling and his dj’ing. I am a big fan of his sets from 88-94. As much as I love clubbing and still went intermittently, I miss those eclectic sets where you were just as likely to hear house, trance and techno in the same set. The only criteria was whether it was a good record or not.

…hmm, whenever I heard him play in the early/mid-90’s I always thought it was v confused. After he discovered Goa trance his sets were all over the place, starting with MAW’ish house and often ending with boshing trance. I’m all for eclecticism but in a period when it was rare that sets were longer than 90 minutes it seemed a bit of a mess.

Unbroken1 Agreed re 90 min sets. Tenaglia used to regularly go through the genres which is why I went out of my way to see him. His GU’s are prime examples.

He comes across as a bit off in that interview, either against James his ex-dj partner or other djs. Am i the only picking that up?

-si- you’re not the only one. He does come across as a bit chippy. The honest answer is the high profile work dried up so there was no point in carrying on. Presumably didn’t fancy being low down the pecking order at a Clockwork Orange reunion in Es Paradis or Chelmsford race course

                    alistair

A one hour set every reunion, sandwiched between Graham gold and Jason bye.

                      My mate booked Graham Gold.

20 people turned up. Including the staff.

Completely forgot they remixed spirits don’t bring me down

-si- 😄 Just above Danny Clockwork and Andy Manston. Bye is great at Mambo though. Class act

Dan I have unfortunately seen Graham gold on four occasions. All absolutely shocking. Like a shit judge jules and that is a bad level to start with

Am good mates with Dave Lambert of Peach fame.

Being a Spurs fan aside, he’s sound.

                            Dreadful KLANG I know.

Also seen Dave DJ a few times at oscars and club art and he is certainly better the Graham. Was he not the A&R man behind positiva
