I agree we could all be a little fitter and better educated, but the idea that the NHS is just full of fat dim people is a nonsense. Up there with Edmonds and his ‘positive mental attitude will save you from cancer’. The many arms of healthcare are far more complex than you are making out. The same sort of thinking blames ‘foreigners for stealing our jobs’. No Tory government will tax fast food, they couldn’t bring themselves to be seen ‘hurting’ or curtailing business in any way. They’re not interested in helping people, they’re happy for you to get ill, that way, their friends who already have a stake in the healthcare will make money.
How much is enough for the NHS? Depends how much you care about your society, their wellbeing and quality of life. I’d give it as much as is needed, and that would include education and preventative measures. It’s a damn site better than the insurance model.
Fuckin lol at Cummings being heralded as a ‘disruptor’. Every despot dictator in history can be regarded as a ‘disruptor’. He’s instrumental in the ongoing privatisation of the country and aligning us as much as possible with the US. He’s hardly a man of the people, and thats what the country needs, people who are looking out for all of us, not just business.
I agree that Punch and Judy politics gets us nowhere, but it’s hard when you have such a poor individual in charge and a government who are selling off the country.
I appreciate that you might not be a Cummings fan boy CJ, but I think you need to be more cynical about your team. You might not like the left, but they’re never going to sell the country out from underneath you.
