  • Most Enduring Commercial Mix Comps

alistair good call, i love both mixes (referring to the jz balance comp).

zackster you can’t throw out vague terms like “commercial” and “relevant” without some context. relevant to who? all of these threads are just name old shit you like in new packaging.

    I just name 007 and 013.

Been doing it for years too.

    Onwards!

303abuser nothing vague about the original post I made; each item on my list is accompanied by very specific reasons why I think it has endured.

All I’ve seen in response is “I listened to the goa mix while cutting me grass and ooooh does it sound good after a few piss warm stellas!”

Someone hasn’t listened to 007 while cutting the grass clearly!

zackster i know, but after your post, it’s just going to deteriorate, there’s no other possible outcome lol.

Shall we just post all of our favourite prog mixes and be done with it?

303abuser thats what winning looks like. Should make this thread a sticky after the amount of time its spent at the top of the heap.

Average poster in the thread depicted

Smallman1 i’m on track 3 of the first mix and it’s bloody terrible. no flow from one track to the next, the mixing is as bad as it gets without boots in the dryer. i’ll do my best to get through it, but in no way does this belong on any list of great mixes. this is in the same ballpark as gatecrasher black.

zackster haha the picture is bang on. it’s because we’re all mostly old and out of touch.

            I don’t know what to say 303.

You clearly have no ear and terrible taste in music.

Didn’t know Millsy was a Caledonian fan.

Smallman1 lol mashing ok individual tracks together doesn’t make a great mix. if you can’t tell the difference between well mixed and not after all this time, i’m questioning your ears.

edit: ffs listen to the volume jump between summersault and water. that’s a bad mix for someone who’s been at it 3 weeks.

Smallman1 not in and of itself, but it is essential. poor records mixed well and great records mixed poorly both preempt inclusion on a “great mix” list. and there’s honestly no reason a “professional” can’t mix better than this. it’s really awful from a technical standpoint.

day by day into life in mind has to be one of the laziest mixes i’ve ever heard. you can’t be serious that you think this is good, much less a classic. you’d be better off playing the unmixed versions in a better order.

i went into this mix completely open minded and i have to shut it off 6 tracks in.

I remember never listening to Oakie New York based on the fact that it looked and sounded like a party bus mix and it’s funny because I have the exact same feeling now.
