zackster le, I selected Tom Middleton’s Sound of The Cosmos as an instance of his having made a correct selection

Which CD did you try - fair to say whether you choose rhythm, melody or harmony as a matter to critique will very much depend on your mood and atmosphere.

It would be nonsensical to suggest any music can be played at any time and be enjoyed - except for maybe “Groove is in the heart” by Deeee-Lite.

Matty My review was based on the release as a whole.

Disc 1’s live mash up mix for New Oder and Sunglasses at Night is very 2019 boilerroom, as are the MJ Cole and Roots Manuka tracks.

Disc 2’s style of house never goes out of style. Sounds like just about every single party I’ve attended at The Goodroom in Williamsburg BK. Such a timeless selection of tracks that it totally papers over Telepop Music.

Disc 3 is a gimme as it’s chill, and all ambient sub genres manage to endure. Saw Tom play a Chill set during yoga back in 2016 and Movement Detroit, and it sounded like it came right off of the B side’s to disc 3.

      crikey…..OK

Northern Exposure - Sasha and Digweed - utterly timeless.

      Global Communication - 76:14 - masterpiece.

Lemon 8 Inner Sanctuary Sessions - Ticks so many boxes.

Jimmy Van M - Bedrock Compiled and Mixed - technically near flawless.

16Bit Lolitas - Bodywarmer - so many amazing tracks on one album

LSG - Into the Deep - mesmerising.

GU 007 New York - Oakenfold.

zackster fair play fella, not that I agree, that’s a superb assessment.

You could be the next Dom Phillips

        crikey…..OK

Northern Exposure - Sasha and Digweed - utterly timeless. - Great mix, but no club is currently playing this kinda music.

        Global Communication - 76:14 - masterpiece. - Not a dj mix :-/

Lemon 8 Inner Sanctuary Sessions - Ticks so many boxes. - Harry Lemon communicated with Jay Kauffman directly in the body of Instagram posts. This is disqualifying.

Jimmy Van M - Bedrock Compiled and Mixed - technically near flawless. - Again, no club would be playing music like is, if clubs were allowed to exist. If you’ve heard Solid Sessions in a club in the past 10 years you might want to get a head scan.

16Bit Lolitas - Bodywarmer - so many amazing tracks on one album - 16Bit Lolitas are not capable of getting past 50% on any of the internal scoring metrics.

LSG - Into the Deep - mesmerizing. - Not a Dj mix, does not qualify

GU 007 New York - Oakenfold. - awful mixing and completely irrelevant tunes.

303abuser that maybe true. i discovered him through the balance mix and haven’t really liked too much since then, so he just fell off my radar. plus i mostly listen to old man music now.

Try this mix from soundcloud, cattaneo and warren kick in shortly after the hour although the Raffa warm up set is superb. Some amazing tracks on there.

the Balance CD by Cattaneo is not good and certainly not representative of his work.

( sorry if I caught the wrong end of the stick )

            zackster

fuck me zackster , will it help if I tell you that your arse is the one you sit on and your elbow is the other one.

your definition was “Dj mixes sold for cash, that did not accompany a magazine, and sound currently relevant.”

your views that my suggestions aren’t sounds currently being played in clubs applies to all of your suggestions and your points that they aren’t DJ mixes are flawed given they are mixed.

If your question is “which compilation CDs are representative of the current club sound” then either the last Digweed Live mix and maybe Baumel Berlin for a start, but that is a relatively pointless discussion.

That’s why the term “enduring” came to mind.

Matty yeah, the real problem is that zack started a shit thread with definitions only he understands lol.

and there’s no chance i find that cd, i’m sure it sounds dated too and doesn’t belong in this thread. i haven’t played out in 15ish years either.

Smallman1 care to explain how well mixed gu007 is again? this isn’t controversial.

              Gents,

I was thoughtless when creating this thread, and for that I apologize. Because of my cavalier behavior, I have forced everyone to confront the fact that prog, its Djs, and unfortunately its fans have all aged like shit. Years of forgoing timeless Roland groove boxes for over processed DAW samples have left the prog cannon mouldering with the JNCO jeans you wore to listen to it.

Conversely, techno is as relevant as ever, which I can only imagine adds salt to the wound. Don’t let that get you down! If you can still enjoy 16 bars with out a single hi hat then I say bully for you. Enjoy it. If I had the nerve to put a glue coated bag over my head for 15 minutes, I would assuredly join you all in your twilight utopia.

Given that there are a few fervent 07 fans, does anyone like TdV Tokyo? Haven’t heard it but curious

alistair is that the first or the second? I had his second gu on over the summer and it sounded very current. The weird Hard House revitalization amongst german zoomers is hilarious
