Millsy Homegrove it started really really well. But that second season just killed the vibe so much I thought Hugo had written it.
alistair This Jools Holland Arctic Monkeys gig on BBC2 is excellent. Such an accomplished live band now
RichM alistair their latest album was terrible. I saw them at the london Astoria just after their first album came out, was a proper decent gig
Jules72 RichM yeah they were way better early on eh…. the album with 505 on it - great stuff. I won tickets to see them at the I-festival at the Roundhouse… think it was 2006-ish… incredible gig. Alex Turner has disappeared up his own arse sadly.
RichM Just finished watching Kleo. Thought it was decent overall, a bit strange in places. A series of 8 episodes is always a winner for me, means it doesn’t drag on too much
alistair First episode of White Lotus was excellent. Some familiar old and new faces. Pity it can’t be binged
Homegrove All six episodes of The English now available on Prime (BBC in the UK?). 83 % fresh on RT, 73 at Metacritic, The Guardian calls it a masterpiece. All that is aside for me, because it has Emily Blunt in it, and quite frankly I’d drink her bathwater.
303abuser 8 episodes into house of the dragon and i have to say, it’s pretty terrible. There’s no continuity, the characters are inconsistent, and there’s basically no plot. What a disjointed mess.
whatever 303abuser Thought the same. When you compare it GoT, that had loads of characters and jumped from one thing to the next but it kept your interest that way as you could never quite see the twists and link everything together and added to the mystery of what was happening. HoD is obvious, boring and not helped by the time jumps.
303abuser whatever Thank you, I thought I was crazy as people really seem to like the show. The writing is so haphazard and the time jumps (along with the bizarre casting changes and seemingly random aging of characters) destroy any semblance of an actual story. I wasn’t expecting much after the last two GOT seasons, but this is just awful.
Homegrove I enjoyed House of Dragon for the acting, EVERYONE was great, especially Matt Smith. Otherwise found it a bit dull too. But oh boy did everyone bring their A-Game or what?
Jules72 Homegrove initially liked it but it started to drag on… and was relentlessly grim… also found it a bit too fake - too much CGI and bad makeup…. The first few seasons of GoT were raw and convincing for what it was. Don’t think I’ll be watching the next season.
