Really messed up, genuine ‘what the fuck’ documentary produced by Louis Theroux. It is about something called Facilitated Communication and consent amongst profoundly disabled non verbal people. Facilitated Communication is a miraculous ‘breakthrough’ in communication where, in this case, someone with the intellectual developmemt of around a 6 to 12 month old is being ‘facilitated’ to communicate all their thoughts and feelings, via a keyboard and the assistance of their facilitator. Through this communication, it is apparent the non verbal person is in fact, very intelligent and intellectually developed. They appear to fall in love and develop a meaningful consensual sexual relationship together with the facilitator.
