Just finished watching ‘The rise of the Murdock dynasty’ on BBC 2. Still can’t believe how much power they have especially over political parties. They seemed to have got away with all that phone hacking stuff as well. Although Rupert has sold off most of his empire. He still owns fox news & a few newspapers etc. He’s also now involved with Disney.

finished 2 seasons of barry this week, it’s a really good show. writing is solid, lots of laughs, and enough plot to keep things moving.

Know some people “in the know” in LA and they all say Bill Hader would be successful at anything he does. He’s just one of those people.

Just finished watching “The Morning Show” on Apple TV+. I kinda thought I was walking into a sitcom situation, but I was very wrong. This show is kinda dark actually, despite Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon starring. I really enjoyed it.

Found “Morning Show” to be really confused in terms of what it wants to be. The tone was all over the place and it tries too hard.

After some fairly horrific choices, the missus has decided she wants to marathon The Wire. Watching it again, it feels pretty timeless. And it’s a bit of a tragedy season 2 never got the love it deserves, think it’s some of it’s best writing.

My favorite season. And I’m not just being contrarian. It’s incredible. Season 4 is neck and neck with it, but 2 really is television at its very best. The urban “drug economy” story has been told before (not as well, but there were attempts). But tying the decline of unions and the white working class to it was really interesting and novel. Nick and Frank Sobotka’s characters were written perfectly.

Id wager that even the teenagers on NP were able to source somewhere that offered a tad more that the type of carvery fodder that Ed was busying himself with when he was holidaying on his ‘food destination break’ in a small provincial town.

Totally disagree, and honestly cannot figure out htf you came to that conclusion, but to each their own 🙂

jonattonyeah first time round, I thought season 2 was the worst. Second time round it stands out as the best by far - fantastic tele that.

Never really paid enough attention to Season 2 of The Wire, and I’ve never repeated it like the others. But now on second watch, and really listening in on all the conversations, it’s definitely the most heartbreaking and intricate of the lot. What they do to D’Angelo was brutal and that last conversation he has with his mother was really emotional. Same with Ziggy, his character really annoyed me and you’re just waiting for him to be clipped, but they just fuck with you with the way they deal with him (and his family) in the end. Season 3 and maybe sometimes 4 are obvious favourites, but really Season 2 is where all the magic happens. Plus they set up S3 beautifully in it.
