Now that it is finished I would give The Last of Us 7.5/10. It started off really strongly but lost it’s way a bit. You could argue it wasn’t actually long enough to highlight the growing bond between Joel & Ellie.

I think episode 5 was the highlight (the Henry/Sam story) and that was also one of the main highlights of the game IMO. Was also pretty cool seeing the post apocalyptic world. I suspect I will go back and binge it in a couple of sessions later this year, which may provide a different take for me.

alistair forgot that Succession is coming…. Something tells me it won’t be able to match previous series though - would be a phenomenal achievement if it did

I just thought the end of the game was bollcoks - as if he’d turn down an opportunity to save the rest of the world, just doesn’t seem real. The fire fight a the end was great and reflective of the game, but they missed quite a bit out - too short a finale. The next season should be good, that kicks off almost straight away

Along_the_Wire its about 2 years now is it? I still haven’t gotten around to it. We’ve watched 6 episodes so far and its been pleasant viewing without needing to be critical. Its extremely well done.

Started Mr Inbetween on Disney… about an Australian hitman, also a father… has some high ratings, this is very entertaining stuff (so far)

It’s a great TV show. The episodes do seem very short but it’s still good. I love the dark humour in it and the characters. Just wish they would make another series.

303abuser They could have taken 12 episodes to get to when he found his brother, developed the characters and paced it properly, and left the rest for a second season.

Dear fuckin fuck no please don’t! The last thing TV shows need is more dreary dialogue as an excuse for character development. It’s a post apocalyptic world that has been taken over by fungus, I’m not watching it for detailed family dynamics and extended monologues.

Amps To each his own, but there are enough shows out there with cardboard characters and storylines that go nowhere. I was hoping this one was different. There is a reason shows like the sopranos, oz, 6 feet under, the wire are all considered classics; one of the common denominators is great character development. Why do I care if a kid turns into a zombie and his brother shoots himself in the head if they’ve only been introduced 45 minutes earlier?

303abuser I hear what you’re saying, but the original sale point of a sci-fi show from a computer game is a different starting point than a moody mobster show based in the real world. Imagine it’s 96 and you get into E-Werk only to find someone reading long form poetry…
