The drunken mess scene between the USAF v RAF characters was terrible on a lot of levels, especially. That was just something that stuck out above loads of other jarring things.
As an aside, there is a fantastic book by Patrick Bishop called Bomber Boys about the RAF bombing campaign. Recommended, it is brilliant like all his books.
