Ban request for PDJ

Remember the Minimal Era? This was some of the best I could find at the time and I never went out of my way to find DJs playing it. I wish I was in this room when it happened.

alistair Nah, not aimed at anyone.

These threads always mutate into people listing their favourite mix, regardless of the original question asked.

mono-stereo yep, I interpreted the thread as picking enduringly good mixes from dj’s you’’re less likely to expect them from.

PDJ Off the top of my head isnt the first track a hot chip remix of Kraftwerk’s Le Forme? as i really liked this mix.

I might still have the C120 chrome cassette which i recorded this on! Great mix.

I enjoyed this because it evokes so many good memories and is very creative with the source material. Deftly put together too with lots of Trance Wax edits/breaks

    Darren Emerson: GU20 Singapore

Always thought this was unfairly maligned. Unlike Sasha, John, ex… it appears that Emerson actually did the programming for this himself, which I nice. The style was unique for GU, at the time. I also liked how disc 1 started banging right from the beginning.

zackster I hope you’re not claiming Sydney CD1 wasn’t programmed by Digweed. You’re dancing on thin ice with a statement like that sonny jim.

Pretty sure that Cheeky Paul guy did all of Sasha and John’s mixes. GU, and NE alike.

        Gaetan Schurer did NE1 iirc.

Since Phil K is being mentioned (hope he gets the treatment he needs and pulls through) - I always thought his mix on ‘The Therapy Sessions’ on renaissance was top drawer and should have got more praise.

Seaman’s Buenos Aires has to be one of the most underrated GU’s. Same applies to his Renaissance Desire. Funny how his GU hasn’t even been mentioned when practically every track is superior to Oakey’s NY. Moreover they are both very listenable.

PDJ going back to the Sasha mix initially posted. Was this the one where there was a part 2 posted by sasha where he plays ladytron for the first time or am I thinking of a completely different mix. Just remember a 3.5 hr amnesia set that was released in two different parts

Oddly, I find a lot of Sasha mixes to be better on later listens. I don’t really care for them at the time but they end up aging quite well.

jonattonyeah that amnesia set falls perfectly into that bracket. Can’t really remember it first time around but really enjoyed it

              Anjunadeep 1 and 2
              James Lavelle GU Naples

Seaman Buenos Aires is a great shout. Lifts off from track 4 and keeps on going.
              Top muscular prog.

Not as listenable at other times that 007 and certainly hasn’t aged as well.
