Homegrove I like this kind of dumb action so enjoyed it. Not a great start with the opening car chase, which seemed to be mostly CG, and was bad meaning bad not bad meaning good. It settled down after that and the nightclub set piece and climax were good.

Phil-McRackin so much bad CGI. It felt like everything was shot on set, and probably was.

EDIT: just read it was all shot in Wales. Explains the need to have every city scene be with a CGI background. 😀

Homegrove yeah, I knew going it it was fillmed there so was expecting a bit but it was painfully obvious.

Hurt Locker (2008). Getting ready for Warfare pick two after Black Hawk Down. Forgot this won best picture and best director at the 2009 Oscars. Kathryn Bigelow’s best film, even though I like Strange Days more, because this isn’t that fun. The shot of Jeremy Renner trying to decide which breakfast cereal to buy is great.

        Homegrove Kathryn Bigelow’s best film

        POINT BREAK, dude!

2009 was an awful year for films iirc.

Wasily the foot chase scene is her best work to be sure. Patrick Swayze throws a dog at Keanu Reeves at one point in it lol.

          Conclave

Not sure what all the fuss is about if I’m honest, average

mono-stereo Decent concept, executed like an ITV Sunday evening ‘drama’.

Needless to say, the wife liked it

Homegrove watched this film as a result of your post. It’s excellent and was pleasantly surprised. 8/10

            Watched 10 mins of Havoc.

            Nonsense.

seanc80 Managed the same. Turned off about 2 mins after the CGI truck chase.

The Thing (1982). Another classic I have never seen. I again have no idea how. I guess because of my aversion to horror. Well, outside of a 35 mm print this was about the best way to see it for the first time I guess. 4K digital projection on the biggest screen in town at a full screening in a movie theatre.

This film is so well referenced in so much pop culture from movie and TV show homages to memes that I knew pretty much everything about it before. Did not ruin it one bit, what a fantastic movie. Had a great time with it. And yes, jumped a few times. Horror still manages to get to me most of the time.

Homegrove top ten movie of all time for me. The score, acting, setting, effects and story and sense of dread are top tier film making. Simply a brilliant film. How are you only getting round to it now dude?

Millsy like I said I avoided a lot of horror a long time. I’ve obviously seen The Shining and Exorcist and a few others, but there’s a lot I’ve still not seen.

Yeah I’m not a big horror fan, but this film is just chef’s kiss.

Oh yeah, it was perfect. Even the dog was a fantastic actor. That thing acted very suspicious so well.

No way I’m ever administering a defibrillator to anyone, ever.

Homegrove Another classic I have never seen

You’re just doing this to wind me up now.

We need some sort of Rage Gage, it’d be off the charts just a Hannu’s poor upbringing.
