The Martian
Not much to dislike about this film, unless you particularly enjoy disliking stuff.
Watched whilst feeling ropey, from the sofa, under a blanket. Felt like a good fit for the occasion.
Enjoyed the occasional glimpses of the vastness of space. The concept of solving big problems, like being stuck on Mars, one step at a time, and Watney’s indomitable spirit also resonated.
Pretty well balanced for a big budget Hollywood film. Could easily have tipped into a stereotypical cheese-fest but deftly steered by Ridley Scott to avoid.
