Carrie (1976). An embarrassing first watch as a huge Stephen King-fan. Pretty terrific film, only downsides are the music that doesn’t fit the movie, and the usual for it’s time people ten years older playing high schoolers. The shot of bloodied Carrie standing against the flames is an all timer. I need to find that on the internet.

Homegrove this was on terrestrial TV here the other evening. A brilliant horror film indeed, I remember the first time I watched it and reacting to the hand at the end!

Polytechnique (2009). The early Denis Villeneuve-films feel like they were done to hurt you. A masterpiece of a film about the 1989 Montreal-school shooting where a misogynist targeted only women. I watched the BFI Blu ray, it’s also on the BFI-player if you want to have a real sad time.

The Company of Wolves (1984). The red hood is VERY red. I hope the animal trainer in charge of the wolves and dogs playing wolves got paid well because those puppies WORKED.

Very weird but wonderful blend of fairy tales and werewolves. Directed by Neil Jordan.

I turned ‘One Battle After Another ’ off after 70 minutes, just wasn’t into it at all. I’ve never been much of a DiCaprio fan so that was probably why.

The Lost Bus (2025). Excellent movie if you enjoy having a panic attack for most of it’s duration. I don’t. The fire efx was very impressive, and scary, that part clearly worked, but otherwise this felt like a Netflix-movie by a no name, not a “based on a true story” film from Paul Greengrass starring Matthew McConaghey and America Ferrera.

Homegrove I watched this yesterday - it was a terrible, terrible film. The fire FX looked like low-budget computer game cut-scenes. There isn’t a single redeeming feature about this film other than my missus falling asleep during it.

Rewatched The Master. Hadn’t seen it for a very long time and thoroughly enjoyed. Nice primer for the One Battle After Another.

@Homegrove Are there any decent podcasts on The Master? Had a look but couldn’t find any.

whatever I haven’t really looked, but I guess we’ll have to wait until Blank Check does PTA. They are doing Weir next, so that will have some great movies in it too.
