Con Air is boss. Incredible cast. It’s honestly shocking how many top-tier actors they got for a movie with a frankly ludicrous plot. Cage and his stupid accent. Crashing on the Vegas strip and somehow not murdering a thousand people. It’s excellent. A worthy addition to Cage’s action trifecta (The Rock, Face/Off).

jonattonyeah steve buscemi is amazing in con air. at the peak of the chaos he’s sitting in his seat, never moves, while singing and holding that doll. 🤣

the best was cusack almost getting his head taken off by the plane, then somehow defying physics to get back in front of it for it to happen again 2 minutes later. pure genius.

i watched the rock a couple of weeks back, also amazing, hasn’t aged a day.

Just looked up the cast in IMDB. Forgot Dave Chappelle was in it too. He did a lot of movies in the 90s, but it seems he gave up acting along with everything else after the Chappelle Show-drama about 15 years ago.

Actually, you know played Machine - Chris Bauer who is also in Face/Off as they dude Cage fights in the bonkers oil rig prison thing. We were talking about The Wire in another thread. He played Frank Sobotka in Season 2.

Fun fact. The scene when Ed Harris gets killed they never bothered to clean up the fake blood so a room in Alcatraz is essentially ruined. Doubt a movie will be allowed to film onsite again.

People bemoan a lot of tourist stuff but Alcatraz is excellent. Had a friend who worked there years ago so I got to see parts most don’t (like the rooms they use for The Rock). It’s a fascinating place. A lot of people don’t know this, but after the jail closed in the ’60’s, a bunch of Native Americans and activists took over the island for like 18 months or thereabouts. In protest of…well, everything. Seeing the parts they occupied wasn’t quite as interesting as the prison but still interesting to experience. They made quite a mess but the NPS left it as is as a relic of the time.

Another fun fact, the reason it took so long for the Bay to be discovered is Alcatraz’s location makes what is now the Golden Gate Bridge look landlocked from the Pacific. Those sailing up and down the coast in discovery never knew there was a massive Bay inside.

That’s his prerogative but I didn’t think there was any drama beyond what he made for himself.

Amps he walked away from 20 million. For… Reasons. Either he felt he was getting caged, or he had a nervous breakdown from the pressure to deliver, or both.

Preparations to Be Together for an Unknown Period of Time - don’t really know what to make of it - it’s a good film, but I’ve got know idea how much of it is real or imagined and as much as I love an open ending, this one is ridiculous 7/10
