rhouses Watched The Game last night, had me intrigued all the way through, but geez that ending was a bit shit. Probably Fincher’s worst? 6.2/10
Wally Same. I’m not actually sure how else it could have ended given that him going off the roof ties into him being a morose standoffish bastard because of his father’s suicide in the same manner and is what gets him to move past that.
Homegrove The ending did require an extra ordinary amount of suspended belief, but I love the movie nonetheless.
Millsy Homegrove yeah it did, but by that time you’re bought into the whole thing and forgive it’s far fetched premise.
rhouses The scene with Penn getting shot and the lady and douglas screaming back and forth was painfully melodramatic. I was just about ok with the suicide and kinda enjoyed the surreal big cushion reveal, but then it suddenly becomes a campy af feel-good 80s movie, ending with Douglas splitting the bill with Sean Penn and then going on a coffee date to the airport with the blond. And the tune he ends it with was cheeseball. Maybe there’s a lot of metaphorical shit going over my head but I don’t think I’m too far off when I say it’s Fincher’s worst.
LT42 Maybe going on previous for Douglas it would’ve been a perfect ending if it turned x-rated in the back of the taxi with the driver looking on through the mirror, briefly catching Douglas’ eyes.
