seanc80 I do both. I have about 600 movies on discs, but I also subscribe to Netflix, HBO Max, Prime Video, Disney+ and SkyShowtime (Paramount+Universal+Peacock in Finland). I’ll never buy another MCU/ Star Wars-movie on Blu Ray, even if I like it. In case of Manhunter and Thief you can’t stream them. Also in case of Apocalypse. Now! the only streaming version is the Final Cut, and I prefer the theatrical. So in a lot of movies it is a question of availability. But in a lot of cases with movies I absolutely love I also want to get the physical for technical reasons. 4K streaming is about the same quality as a physical standard Blu Ray, and with 4K Blu Rays you can’t even get close. That’s because streaming is compressed so much.

And somehow this turned into a vinyl vs mp3-convo but fuck it.

Homegrove also, we have a whole separate movie room, or home cinema, so the Blu Rays are not cluttering the living room. There we wouldn’t have room anyway, because we also have about 600 books. 😂

And I have to be honest, I love collecting the fucking things. Movies, and books. Libraries exist, but I never go there, just buy everything I read like an idiot.

vinnyt77 I have around 2,000 CDs on three shelves in my long hallway. I have a CD player that I hardly ever use, but love having the CDs up - it’s a piece of art as far as I’m concerned.

Phil-McRackin not here on any service that’s available in Finland. The Arrowvideo Blu Ray is only 11 €. Like Studio Canal and Criterion their releases are always top quality. I’ll wait until Black Friday to see what else might be cheap that I might want. Saving Private Ryan 4K is something I’ve been keeping an eye on for one.

C_J I’ll readily admit I have a hoarding problem. Thankfully I left behind compact discs in 2010. It always tickles me that Hannu is relentless in his pursuit for blurays to this day.
