C_J Leave the world behind (2023) I’d go along with Rhouses on this. It’s good. In fact it’s almost very good. Sam Esmail’s in-your-face style is like the opposite of Eastwood’s plain storytelling but it mostly works and I think everyone in this does a good job of keeping this feeling like a real movie and not a disposable Netflix diaper full of poop. 8/10
IndustryStandard C_J watched it last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of themes and lots of ways to read into the film and the ending. 8/10 too
Homegrove I thought Netflix has been on the roll this past six months with the movies, The Reptile, The Killer, Leave the World Behind, and now Maestro coming on Wednesday.
RichM Watched Hell Or High Water on Netflix over the weekend. It was fairly decent, Jeff Bridges was decent, but then he generally is. I would give it a 7/10
Homegrove Yeah, it’s a good one. Written by Taylor Sheridan when he was still interested in doing good movies.
Homegrove National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989). Another movie where The Rewatchables did an episode and I’d not seen the movie. Enjoyed this one much more than the first Vacation-movie. Laughed out loud several times. “Shitter’s full!”
mono-stereo Homegrove Just seen this. Which bits did you laugh at? Chevy Chase falling off a ladder? Farts? Overcooking the turkey? I was genuinely fed up afterwards.
rhouses That new Jennifer Lawrence comedy on Netflix isn’t half bad. Reminiscent of the late 90s raunchy comedy. Plus she goes full frontal, which is nice. Decent enough time pass. 6.2 / 10
