Along_the_Wire JonQPublik Thank goodness for the final scene. A man with a large penis dancing naked?
Dubman whatever Oliver created the lie that his father died of an overdose. But it was Felix who made the call to meet Oliver’s mum on his birthday. Maybe his parents were part of the plan
rhouses C_J Looking forward to this one, great reviews everywhere. Should have squeezed it in for Christmas, versus the absolute Eddie Murphy garbage I hit play on randomly.
C_J I put it on at 11pm on Christmas Day once everyone was in bed. Meticulously planned. At the risk of sounding like a complete sad bastard …….. I feel like watching it any time other than from the 23rd - 29th of December would be ….. highly suboptimal. Keep it for next year would be my advice.
Wasily The Black Bear (2020) Watched this as I like Aubrey Plaza’s work (Emily the Thief etc.) The acting is superb but the movie is basically 2 sketches with the actors’ relationships and power dynamic inverted. People have put entire theses on forums trying to explain what’s going on in this film and still not reached consensus. If you’re a fan of art house then maybe it’s for you, but I wanted a modicum of narrative which I didn’t get. 5/10
Homegrove Adam Driver presumably as McCaul in the flashback-parts. Can’t see him being Chris in the early 2000s parts of the book.
Wally Homegrove Wonder who they’ll replace Kilmer with for the forward in time parts, unless they just decide to stick with the prequel stuff. The book was pretty average really so can’t say I’m confident this is going to be anything other than ‘meh’ - neither shitting on or saying something new in comparison to the original.
Wasily Ferrari (2023) Sort of like a decent version of Ridley’s shit House of Gucci. I don’t why Driver keeps getting cast in these Italian parts, but he’s ok in this; everything’s much sharper, has more cohesion and he’s helped well by Cruz and Woodley. The racing is a decent counterfoil to the personal backstory and has some spectacular cinematography. The crashes are very graphic. 7/10
Along_the_Wire Wasily I’ve seen so many trailers for it, I don’t think I could bear to watch the bastard
Wally Saltburn - expected sickness and debauchery. Got a tepid, occasionally amusing flick instead. 7 common people / 10
seanc80 Watched Killers Of The Flower Moon over Christmas . Has to be one of the most overrated films in history. The hype that this film created was unnatural compared to the reality of actually watching it. Passable at best…and I mean at best. 5.5/10
Smallman1 Was at an Irish wedding last month Sean. Two things - A) They all absolutely loved me. And B) I didn’t fall in a river after. The word winning springs back to mind!
Smallman1 seanc80 Ah good man. where was the wedding? Worthing. The groom was Irish and had north of 100 friends and family over, unbelievable bunch, a proper laugh!
