Network (1976): This got a shout out on Rewatchables, piqued my interest. Rent free on Amazon Prime. A truly brilliant and timeless film, more relevant today than it has ever been. Basic premise, an old school newscaster is fired because of low ratings, and goes off the rails. Late 60s into the 70s might be my favourite period for movies - gritty and dark. What I liked about this is how blurred the lines are between satire and reality, a lot of it is very funny, but you’re constantly wondering if you should be laughing or crying. Faye Dunaway is a GOAT honey, and Peter Finch (who won the oscar for the role posthumously) plays the newscaster, and it might be one of the best performances I’ve seen. Some of the best writing in a script, as well.
