I thought it was really engaging , fascinating and well-paced. I had no idea where it was going. The relationship between the protagonists was complex and authentic, they felt like real three dimensional people and the way the whole thing was shot and edited, the past spliced with the present, was genius, like a documentary, it felt absolutely like real life rather than a bunch of actors reading scripts. I think one of the hardest and most important things for any film is to get the viewer to suspend their disbelief and buy into it as genuine and this had that in spades.
And this might be totally ridiculous but I couldn’t help thinking that the smartest person in the room was the kid - you see the way he handles himself and manipulates the adults - and he had the motive (he blamed his dad for the accident which cost him) the means and the opportunity (the Dad was hanging out the window having a smoke, the mum had her earplugs in) to commit murder and then give himself an alibi by taking the dog for a walk and then “discovering the body”.
