Today’s classic I’ve never seen before was Lawrence of Arabia (1962). I watched the 50th anniversary restoration and it looked absolutely incredible. The people behind it did a great job, Alec Guinness and Anthony Quinn in brownface, and the latter’s fake nose maybe stood up a bit too much bordering on distracting, but my god the desert scenes. Which was of course 97 % of the film. I am sad to say I felt the length a bit, this movie didn’t exactly fly by. The Killers of the Flowermoon, a lesser picture but almost as long felt half as long by a recent comparison.
I wonder what it would be like to see this on a 70 mm copy at a theater if it looked this good on Blu Ray watched on a 50 inch TV.
