Almost Famous (2000). Another first watch. I loved it, felt like a nice warm comforter in a movie format. Everyone looking so young and hot was a bit deppressing though. Missus said it was pointless.

Just watched Under the Silver Lake. Absorbing neo-noir-ish, but for large parts, it’s all over the shop and impossible to follow - no idea where the director was going with it. Can’t be absolutely sure that I enjoyed it, but I’ll give it a 6/10 for a great soundtrack and being mental

Watched half of Dune (Part 1) before snoozing off on the sofa after a few too many Peronis. It kept my attention up until that period. It’s a good blend of new & old sci-fi.

Watched ‘Under the Skin’ again yesterday. The scenes in the black goop are so well done. Glasgow looked even worse. Love the tense soundtrack too. 7/10

seanc80 we’d been on a friend’s cabin at Lake Saimaa with a group of friends, I stopped in Helsinki for the night on the way back, because I was not in a condition to hop in my own car and drive another three hours. Which I’d left there on the way to the cabin, we shared a few cars from Helsinki on, I think there was 10 of us. It was awhile back.

Finally got around to seeing Oppenheimer.

Obviously, a very solid film with an outstanding performance from Cillian Murphy. I did find it tough to follow all the scientists names but it didn’t detract from the experience. I’d be interested to see how much embellishment there was compared to the actual facts, I’m always wary of biopics for that very reason.

A solid 8/10

Dune Part 2 will be my first movie I go see twice in the theatre since Blade Runner 2049. For one I want to see it on the biggest screen in town, for another hopefully without annoying teenagers who were on their phones the whole movie, and for third it was just that good that I want to get into the details rather than racking my brain about stuff that’s different from the book while watching it.

Dune Part 2

Watched the first one before I went.

Arguably the best sci-fi film I’ve seen in a long time. No filler, didn’t feel as long as it was. Like the first one m, it ends a bit quickly, so a third will be in the making at some point.
