erik Yeah! I sort of thought I knew what I’d get with Roadhouse- a bit like with Beekeeper (quite enjoyed the latter as it delivered everything I was hoping for). But this was so much worse than expected. The CGI is terrible- car accelerations look like Star Trek warp drive, boat crashes have water drops landing and forming beads on the beach sand. Gyllenhaal’s simian grin and CMcG’s inexplicable pauses before delivering lines coupled with the cliched flight choreography were the nail in the coffin.

Thought The Zone of Interest wasn’t all that. A kind of lot of nothing and really just wasn’t as dark as I was expecting. A surprisingly colourful film. 5/10

The Holdovers (2023)

Enjoyable film this. Paul Giamatti excellent as always, playing the role of a private school teacher who has to stay in school over the Xmas holidays with other pupils who cant go home. Not sure why Da’Vine Joy Randolph got an Oscar for her performance though, I wouldnt say she massively shone or anything?

An 8/10 and also a couple of good folk songs on the soundtrack

Drive-Away Dolls. Saw it at the cinema with the missus and a bakers’ dozen of three wheelers. Classic Coen stuff with stupidity and jeopardy but they’ve thrown in a ton a lesbians and dildos. Gets funnier as it goes on. 7/10
