jonattonyeah alistair Pacino’s character comes across as a leering creep now In “Heat”? Apparently the character was supposed to have a major coke problem, but those scenes were cut from the movie for whatever reason. Knowing that makes his performance much more sensical.
Amps Dan Cheery stuff. Considering i was written in 2006, it shows incredible foresight into post Brexit Britain. Bleak indeeed.
jonattonyeah Point Break (1991) 9/10 Stupendous film. Docked one point for Lori Petty. Recast that part. Otherwise,, pretty damn perfect. And, no, this is not some nostalgia - it’s actually very good; albeit cheesy. You do you, War Child
Along_the_Wire jonattonyeah My favourite bit, apart from the closing credits, is when the Red Hot Chilli Peppers pop up. Man, I love them and their anarchistic ways, they’re like the second wave of punk.
Wally The lighthouse - fucking bonkers flick but enjoyed it a lot. Great performances by Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson. 8 mermaids / 10
Jules72 Wally glad you could make out what they were saying 😂… vivid atmosphere but Christ what a misery-fest
Wally Jules72 lol. Misery? I was loling at various bits. Mostly feeling sorry for Pattinson and the shit situation he found himself in. When he tries to empty the bed pans in the wind, catches the full blow back and loses it, it was hilarious.
Along_the_Wire I haven’t watched Lighthouse, dunno if I’ve got the stomach for it. I watched that other black and white thing about tourists in a Cornish fishing town - drivel.
SM001 Millsy McCarthy is an incredible writer. He can pack more imagery in a paragraph that most writers couldn’t in a whole chapter. Vincent D’Onofrio was always mentioned for The Judge with Paul Thomas Anderson to direct. I don’t think it’s unfilmable. I think studio’s are put off by the violence of it.
Along_the_Wire Classic film with the kids - One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Not seen it for 30 years - sublime. Acting is off the charts from across the board - had no idea the short nutter was Danny Devito. Smashes into my all-time top 10. 10/10.
