Dubman C_J The plot was so obvious from about 10 mins in. Which is shame as i do like a good court room drama
Amps C_J probably wouldn’t go that far. I don’t hate it. It was kinda fun for what it was. Lets face it, there are two good Alien films, the rest, in truth, we could have all lived without. I like the expanded universe bits, but most of it is just Hollywood printing money.
Homegrove Amps Alien 3 (Special Edition) is a good film, and I will not tolerate slander towards it. The theatrical cut is bad, yes.
Wasily Homegrove I have friends who swear the director’s cut of this is the best thing in the franchise. Never got round to watching it. Having rewatched 1 & 2 recently, and after seeing the 6 hr aliens documentary I’m going with Cameron’s effort as my fave.
Homegrove Wasily going to go all 🤓 here but the Special Edition of Alien 3 is not a director’s cut, Fincher did not get any cut of his own of the film. The Special Edition is closer to the shooting script than the theatrical cut the Fox-execs ordered.
Homegrove Step Brothers (2008). This movie is just so goddamn funny. I believe the story is they didn’t have a script, just a throughline and most of it is improvisation. The first cut was over three hours long, because so much of it was too funny to cut.
Homegrove Wasily yep! Apple used to at least have that available to buy too BTW. EDIT: checked, and you can rent it from Amazon.
Amps Homegrove well, what is? That’s an unfair metric. I’d say comparing good films to bad films is a fairly standard metric.
Smallman1 Watched Uncle Buck earlier. Absolutely sensational still. 8 drying clothes in a microwave out of 10.
Homegrove Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985). Finished watching the OG films for the first time with this. Pretty bad, felt like a kids-movie compared to the other Mad Max-films. A bad one. Still it’s amazing how big of an impact this has left to popular culture, so many references I only now got.
Mad_Cyril Mufasa Think I’m done with CGI. Story was decent enough, but completely unengaging visually. My brain finds it hard to relate to anything i know is automated BFI iMAX gaff next to The Tap is a great setup 3 / 5. 1 for the story, 2 for the cinema.
gcw Broken Arrow (1996) If you need a film where you can leave your brain at the door this is for you. A semi decent action movie with all the usual tropes, especially some total cheese lines from Travolta. A fair few helicopter explosions as well. One of the funnier deaths at the end also. 6 nukes out of 10
Along_the_Wire Heretic was alright. Did like the anti-religion element quite a bit and Hugh Grant was really good. Worth a watch at 6.5 / 10
rhouses Along_the_Wire decent movie, but that script and plot needed a little more development. Last 45 mins felt rushed and loose.
