LT42 Still can’t get my head round Arnie hating it. He criticised Paul Michael Glaser heavily for its made-for-TV look. Watched it countless times myself. So many great one liners.

Eh, very early King, he wrote it in college. Like most of his Bachman-books. It is bleak if you like that sort of thing. Almost nothing to do with the Schwarzenegger-movie. So if Wright is doing another adaption of the book, instead of a remake of the movie it could have merit to exist.

Not usually a fan of reboots but I’d be okay with a Running Man go if in the right hands. Just keep The Rock away from it.

Watched French Dispatch till the end of the Benecio Del Toro artist story. So far so good even though I passed out.

The Power of the Dog - think I’m similar to Amps - good film, not sure why. Brilliant in the slow burn and tension department and you have no idea how it’ll end. Very un Netflix and worth a watch - 7/10.

Agreed. It’s a really good flim but not sure I liked it. The last act makes up for a first hour-plus that seemed to lack any point. It’s worth sticking with. Beautifully shot and very well acted, pacing is just odd. Going to give it a rewatch this week. But I’d recommend it.

It’s only like two hours. Not some eight episode commitment, I think it’s one of the more ambitious films of the year and worth a watch but if you’re out, you’re out.

Encounter (2021, Amazon)

Riz Ahmed plays an ex-marine who ‘rescues’ his kids from an in alien microbial invasion. This is one of those films that starts off quite well then loses its bearings badly half-way through.

Not unwatchable though, some semi-interesting sound and visual choices, using the US wilderness to good effect, and I’m a sucker for those father/son dynamics tbh even if they are fairly ham-fisted.

Probably just about worth your time overall if you like Ahmed and go in with your expectations low.

Funky I saw the trailer in the last time I went to the cinema. It looks like the other sequels only worse, which I have to say is some feat.

[deleted] way too early. Most likely drinking already quite heavily. All Bachman-books are quite bleak, and half were written before Carrie when he was still young. Of the five The Long Walk is the best, and it’s quite high on the list of all of King’s works IMO. People have tried to make a movie out of it too forever, but it’s pretty difficult book to adapt.

It’s set in a dystopian future like The Running Man, and also has a reality TV-setting. The competition is that 100 18 year old boys walk, until only one is left. If your walking speed drops below a certain speed you’ll get shot. As in killed. On TV.
