Wife said she wants to go see the new Matrix-movie, and also said we need to watch the old ones as neither of us can remember anything about the second and the third. So we started tonight with the first one. HBO Max has all three in 4K with Dolby Atmos and I don’t think the movie’s ever looked so good. Just awesome.

Feeling trepedation about the other two though. I seem to remember Monica Bellucci’s cleavage was the only good thing about them.

Watched Tenet for the second time last night. Talk about convoluted. I broadly understood it this time, although I still can’t get my head around certain mechanics of the plot (the shooting range scene for example)

Anyway good film set around an intriguing core idea. As with most Nolan films the sound mix is shite. Dialogue seemed muffled.

mono-stereo glad someone else has noticed this. The Batman films were absolutely awful for this, plus edited really badly with jump cuts everywhere. Crap in other words. Not seen Tenet yet but he really does need to get rid of his sound team and editors.

is it just me or are a lot of films like this now? explosions and fight scenes are at 120db and you can’t hear the whispering/mumbled dialogue. dynamic range and mixing is all over the place, i find myself turning subtitles on half the time. maybe i’m just going deaf lol.

Millsy yeah it’s laughably bad, his films usually involve Michael Cane giving some important yet inaudible exposition (huh? What’s he saying? Nuclear what? volume up +++++++).

Cut straight to the protagonist flying up the side of a building, the twang of the bungee rope giving you tinnitus.
