Always fun to see an art house movie director get a big budget and see what he does with it. 90 million is a big step up from The Vvitch and The Lighthouse. Also seeing as as crazy as it is that nobody’s ever made a good viking movie (I like the 13th Warrior, but have no objection to others hating it) this could finally be it.

I watched Batman last week and that was just under 3hrs as well. thought it was pretty shit as well.

Streaming has cut the editors out. Now every director gets to do whatever the fuck they want with nobody telling them enough is enough.

jonattonyeah happens with “master” directors too when they lose or change their editors. You could certainly see that with Tarantino when he lost Sally Menke to cancer. She would have reigned in The Hateful 8. That movie did NOT need to be three hours. Tenet was also the first time Nolan changed his editor.

I liked it, but it was a struggle for my bladder at the theatre. Also had more endings then Return of the King.

Watched The outfit over the weekend with Mark Rylance. Couldnt finish it.

Him aside, the acting is fucking rubbish. Silly auld shite.

I watched the trailer of this last week at the cinema and it looked half decent. It then popped up on my torrent site. Binned it off after about ½ hour. Absolute dog muck.

Dubman Yea very disappointing i had been quite looking forward to it as well as i think he is an excellent actor.

Missus has cleared off for a couple of days so after the cup final I’ve put on ‘There Will Be Blood’ .

What a film. Day-Lewis turning in the all time greatest performance imo. Every time I watch it I am amazed at how good he is. It’s not my favourite film, but it’s the best film ever made for me

Incredible film. Nobody but PTA could’ve made it and nobody but DDL could’ve acted in it.

Fun fact. The film that beat it at the Oscars, No Country For Old Men (a great, but inferior film) had to suspend shooting for a few days as There Will Be Blood filmed the oil well blowup scene. They were filming at the same time, right next door. Love both films. Tremendous film making.

Never knew that. I loved that film as well, but would agree it’s not a patch on TWBB.

The stories of Day -Lewis fascinate me. He must be the greatest of all time surely? I remember watching My Left Foot as a youngster thinking the actor actually had cerebral palsy. Acting is like a part time gig for him!
