Homegrove pains me to know I won’t be able to watch this in the cinema, along with Licorice Pizza.
Summer of Soul - Probably one of the best music concert documentaries I’ve watched. I was shocked at how truly flawless all the performances were. Uplifting and quite powerful, who’d have thought if you put 300k black and brown folk mostly from Harlem in a free concert in a park it would go so well and smoothly. Pure good vibes.
It’s put together really well, and I like to think my Bose soundbar woofer combo did the sound justice. The Stevie Wonder piano solo in the latter half of the movie was proper goosebumps. All of it was. Sly and the Family Stone was another favourite, awesome. Bought the soundtrack without thinking twice. Would love to get it on vinyl actually. Annoys me that all the bollocks from the oscars overshadows this doc’s greatness. 9.7/10
