Wally Good, not great. If you’re expecting the bonkers insanity and originality of ‘The Lighthouse’ it’s a disappointment but if you’re after a more straight up revenge horror with a touch of fantasy (or ‘A Skyrim quest on screen’), it’s good and very well put together. It’s feels like the A24 suits offered Robert Eggers the money to make whatever he wanted on the condition it made money. This cost twice what the lighthouse cost to make (90m I think, all up on screen), so it’s definitley a more straight up (/ more marketable) telling of a story with more predictable and well known beats (which seems unfair since it’s telling the story that inspired Hamlet and many other movie stories but such is life). I kinda wish it had went harder into the fantasy aspect but what’s there is still well worth a watch. 8 lopped off heads / 10
