It’s not their mere existence, it’s because there’s a never-ending slew of them, most of them absolute garbage, to the detriment of something actually a bit more challenging being made.
I don’t like country and western music, but I can tolerate its existence as a genre. However, if about 50% of the albums that got made and promoted were country and western, and half my mates were into this formulaic nonsense, I would also actively hate it.
