Homegrove First time watching

I think the gaps in your film knowledge start to explain why you watch so much shite.

What else have you not seen?

Amps just from my own collection Lawrence of Arabia is still unfinished. I’ve started it once, and liked the first 30 minutes, but could not commit to 4 hours then.

Just thought of one, the only Rambo I’ve seen is First Blood, and that just because I love David Morrell’s novel. The movie is good, but the book much better. Never seen a single Rocky-movie.

I started to watch A Decision To Leave when I got back from the pub last night, but realised after 30 mins I had no idea what was going on. So gave up, will try again another night when not drinking.

Homegrove The first and second Rocky films are genuinely great. Especially the first. When we were kids we would have them on practically as background music every day, trying to emulate the fighting and training scenes 😅

musta see them hundreds of times. Adriaaaaaaaan! 🥲

        American Fiction (2023)

a cosy, conventional, gentle dramady - but wait, don’t let that put you off - it’s also one of those rare films that @Along_the_Wire and I pretty much agree on (maybe it’s a sign of our impending dotage, like this mum in this…..)

Jeffrey Wright is great and while it might not blow your socks off, this is a solid movie if you’re in the mood for something a bit more family friendly and easy to watch.

        7.5/10

gcw Agreed. Boss film when it first got released.

C_J great acting by Carl Weathers, convincing viewers Rocky could take him

Homegrove Never seen a single Rocky-movie.

Your opinion is no longer valid. Get out of this thread. Hang your head in shame. You’re the film equivalent of an Etonian Tory MP running the country with no life experience or connection to the people they govern.

Amps I don’t watch sports-movies, but otherwise that is incorrect. Well Moneyball is ace.

Bit reductive there H - Rocky (the first one) is so much more than a sports movie. Hence the best picture oscar.

crudgingly adds the first Rocky on my Letterboxd-watchlist
