American Fiction. Love the smell of satire in the morning - a very enjoyable, sometimes a little too obvious, comedy with at least half a dozen LOL moments. 8.5/10

Along_the_Wire looking forward to that very much. I think it’s going to be straight to streaming with that one here unfortunately, just like Ferrari.

Blackhat (2015). Michael Mann’s previous film before Ferrari. Watched it for the first time, and chose the director’s cut because apparently that’s better. It still wasn’t very good, wife outright hated it, but I liked the Michael Mannes of it all. Only watch if you liked his 2006 Miami Vice.

In America (2002)

Paddy Considine and Samantha Morton play Irish parents trying to make a go of it in Mew York following the death of one of their kids.

The best acting in this was from their two daughters and the film itself was quite well done….they did a good job of getting the 90s feel.

Homegrove

Robocop (1988). First time watching. I know, I can’t tell you why only now. This is a perfect satire that’s as relevant now as it was in the 80s. My favorite bit besides the growling robot was the guy who was smiling and giving Murphy thumbs up when he shot and killed his boss.

I still tend to skip the Murphy death scene as its just so brutal, especially the hand part.

Its a 10/10 film for me, perfect satire and so many quotable lines. Boddicker is a great villain too.

Do yourself a big favour….don’t watch any of the sequels!

Along_the_Wire Arrow Video 4K yes. Black Friday purchase, it was 15 £. Was adding to my collection today (Studio Canal 4K of Brotherhood of the Wolf) and came across it, and thought I’d better watch it before newer purchases.

The Teachers’ Lounge (2023)

Interesting little German social drama / satire set in a primary school where a petty thief is at work.

It’s quite intelligent and tense at times. Held our attention for 100 minutes. Decent.

The film felt longer than the actual real time of the convoy crossing. There is no way to engage with any of the characters in what was in real life a horrendous and heroic effort.

Just thought of one, the only Rambo I’ve seen is First Blood, and that just because I love David Morrell’s novel. The movie is good, but the book much better. Never seen a single Rocky-movie.

Homegrove The first and second Rocky films are genuinely great. Especially the first. When we were kids we would have them on practically as background music every day, trying to emulate the fighting and training scenes 😅

I started to watch A Decision To Leave when I got back from the pub last night, but realised after 30 mins I had no idea what was going on. So gave up, will try again another night when not drinking.
