Iron Claw: Pretty good wrestling movie, painfully and relentlessly tragic. The acting is very good, Oscar worthy even, crazy transformation for efron. Think I might prefer The Wrestler in this genre, but this is up there too. Watch if you want to feel a little depressed in the end.

Bass impact. A documentary that charts the massive success of dubstep. It goes right back to the jungle/d’n’b scene which then led eventually to dubstep from a record shop in Croydon. Which they reckon is the music genre that has changed electronic music forever especially in the USA.

I’ve watched quite a few house music films but I’ve never seen about the prog scene. Maybe it wasn’t as big as we think it was.

Predators (2010).

Watched the first one. Again. And followed it up with this. Like season two of True Detective, if there was never the first one this would be loved by much more people.

Like Aliens this is the first Predator-movie, but what if there were lots of the creatures? Not as successful in it’s end result, but come on, what is? Adrian Brody doing the only “I’m going to get jacked and do an action movie” movie of his career. Lawrence Fishburne monologuing. Mahershala Ali before he was THE Mahershala Ali. Walton Goggings. What’s not to love?

Homegrove Saw it in the cinema years ago and loved it. I snuck in under age to see the Predator…. So glad I saw that gem on the big screen.

In a Violent Nature. Friday the 13th like slasher mostly from.the point of view of the killer. Nothing profound, lots of following the protagonist through fields and forests but some extremely brutal kills and some creepy moments. I liked it.

Civil War: Felt very real, and you know it’s a possibility with these mad American bastards like zackster. Have always been fascinated by war journalism, so that hook was also appreciated. Dunst, Pablo and that girl had good chemistry. Nutty cameo from Plemmons.

Lots of interesting set pieces and situations, almost felt episodic. They ruined what would have been a flawless ending with some melodramatic shite which I won’t spoil. Overall good, not great.

Abigail: This was great. Reminded me of the shitty horror movies I watched late night in boarding school in the 90s. Gets a bit loose in the second half plot wise, but nothing taken away from the entertainment. Gruesome for sure, but not scary, more funny, hilarious even. The titular character is brilliant. Tad bit disappointed with who they went with for her father. I hope they don’t fuck up the sequel.

A quiet place day 1: 7/10

This was surprisingly decent for the 3rd in the series, but Lupita Nyong’o rarely does crap movies. Same premise as before, aliens invade NYC and kill anyone playing Trisco but it’s more about the power of human connection and resilience than an aliens type horror/ action genre.

Robocop (1987): Somehow this just showed up on Prime, and after all the rave reviews for the documentary on here, figured I’d give the original another watch. This holds up big time. Was incredibly stoned, but for the 80s it didn’t feel very camp. And was surprised by the gratuitous violence and gore especially since I remember it being a pretty family friendly cartoon. Did not remember the original was Rated R brutal. The first kill scene in the boardroom was hilarious, and sets the tone nicely but it also looks like some claymation effects are going on. That’s a pretty banging costume for Robocop, timeless imo. The movie is a definite classic, well worth a watch even now, and completely understand why it’s cult. Looking forward to 2 & 3, not sure if I should do the remake.

rhouses 2 is passable. 3 is an abomination, would honestly avoid and save yourself 2 hours.

The remake wasn’t too bad though.
