Rate The Last Movie you Watched

I have only ever seen the original 3 Star Wars films once, and that was when they released them again in the late 90s (?) at the cinema. Did all 3 in 2 days and thought they were OK and obviously well done for their time. Have never had the urge to watch any of the others and the Star Wars fan universe has always baffled me.

The French Connection (1971)

Now this is a film. First time watching and I loved it. Fantastic acting from Hackman and the grittiness of Manhattan in the 70s really added to the vibe of the film. Clear to see why it won Oscars. 9 out of 10

Watched Eastern Promises after ages… wow I didn’t remember it being that dark. Easy 9 out of 10 imo, but it needs a sequel desperately.

I watched Alien last night for the first time in a very long time. It’s almost the perfect film and hasn’t dated a minute. 10/10

Longlegs (2024). Liked it a lot better than Grant. It was far from perfect, but it kept me anxious, so mission accomplished horror movie. Nicolas Cage was fucked up in this.

Glad it was still in the theatres, it opened here 6 weeks ago. Though it was just me and one another person in the screening room.

Longlegs’ third act needed fixes, lets it down in a big way after beautifully building to it. Do love what they did with the mother character through and through.

It does spoil the end a little though, and the middle. Maybe there isn’t enough actual ‘horror’ to carry the remainder of the film?

Cage looking like Bagpuss was a bit every though - probably a missed opportunity to place some big standard bedrock tunes?
