Homegrove No Country For Old Men Big Lebowski Fargo Burn After Reading Oh Brother Where Art Though My top five Coens.
rhouses Dan Think you’ll enjoy it. The Man Who Wasn’t There is a worth a watch, especially if you like old school film noir. No Country obviously sits on top. Burn After Reading is an underrated gem, but not sure if it’s top 5.
Along_the_Wire rhouses Kiss Me Deadly, Sunset Boulevard and Double Indemnity from noir for me. Not seen The Third Man, will watch that on my trip next week. Don’t watch The Maltese Falcon - what a load of old shit that is.
Dan rhouses Blood Simple (1984) Raising Arizona (1987) Miller’s Crossing (1990)* Barton Fink (1991) The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)* Fargo (1996) The Big Lebowski (1998) O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) The Man Who Wasn’t There (2001)* Intolerable Cruelty (2003)* The Ladykillers (2004) No Country for Old Men (2007) Burn After Reading (2008) A Serious Man (2009) True Grit (2010) Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)* Hail, Caesar! (2016) The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) Drive Away Dolls (2024)* Yet to watch/get on blue ray
rhouses Watched Maxxxine, disappointing to say the least but it has its moments. Actually it’s pretty shite. Could skip and it wouldn’t make a difference even if you’re a fan of the series. Pearl was near flawless, and X was bonkers good, this fell flat on its face. 5.2 / 10
rhouses Along_the_Wire sunset blvd is timeless. Watched it recently and it’s genuinely creepy. Could rewatch double indemnity, did it in college over 20 years ago. I’ve got Ace in the Hole lined up.
LT42 Dan The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) ……massive letdown I thought. Pity because the idea was good.
Homegrove The Order from last year is now up on Prime Video. It skipped theatres here all together. I have that lined up for this weekend, been looking forward to it hitting streaming.
