@seanc80 and @Millsy you’re both just jealous of my exciting and in no way sad and boring life.

Its just the glamour of it all, that i cant get my head round.

rhouses love it, Ed asks what snacks you take, and you reel off a full on meal! Good man

    absolutely loved Anora.

Moore will get the Oscar because it completes that redemption story but I’d give it to Mikey Madison, what a performance.

C_J good film that. Interesting fact, I had to go to that actual strip club with a mate who was going there to pick up his mate’s credit card. Grim.

RichM pffft. not all three at once. Usually just one of those dishes. Gold class has a full blown restaurant menu.

C_J it’s a stronger performance than demi moore in substance imo. But i think all the hard yards from the 80s and 90s will add up for a moore win. Still, will be interesting to see.

Amadeus. Saw this in the 80s one Christmas and didn’t really remember it. What a cracking film - must’ve cost a fucking bomb to make. The worst bit is the guy that plays Mozart - over acted something terrible, but really, what a great film. 8/10

Brutalist happened yesterday. I was nervous with the run time, but for what it’s worth it holds you throughout. First half is a slow burn, rich character building, pushing the plot forward… second half is manic with a feverish pace. Something happens in the last 30 minutes (epilogue not included) that will probably split audiences. it had me perplexed, but after a night’s sleep it seems to make sense. Brody’s character is intriguing and entertaining, Pearce is good but you can tell he’s really turning it on. Felicia was miscast and a weak link. All the hype about the cinematography and it being visually stunning, its a bit overrated. there are moments, but i wouldnt go out of my way to watch it in imax.
It’s a good immigrant jew anti americana story, and probably deserves some awards for the acting. But it’s not tight and also overly indulgent.

Along_the_Wire watched it a couple weeks back, flawless movie. Loved the mozart actor!

Along_the_Wire did you watch on Apple TV? It just got upgraded to the new 4K remaster there. I’ve never seen it, might have to rent it.

            The Blair Witch Project (1999).

I watched the new transfer on the Second Sight (UK based boutique Blu ray-label) Blu ray.

"The Blair Witch Project production designer Ben Rock explains over on Twitter, “If you’re a fan of The Blair Witch Project, this edition is a first of its kind. The original sources have been re-digitized including a first-ever proper transfer of the 16mm. And there’s a new doc by Jed Shepherd interviewing all of us who made the film.”

“The version you’ve seen was transferred (hi-8 & 16mm) to BetaSP in 1997, edited in standard def, output to 35mm from SD, and that was the 35mm print. The DVD and Blu-ray besides this new edition was a video transfer from that 35mm print. This is the best version,” Rock adds."

I skipped through the 35 print based version also included here, and the new transfer is so much better. The film itself still manages to scare the bejesus out of me. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up next to some pretty impressive woods that were really scary at night, or because I’m a pussy with horror films. I don’t expect to sleep well tonight. The first time I saw this movie I had nightmares based on it for a full week after.

Homegrove “The version you’ve seen was transferred (hi-8 & 16mm) to BetaSP in 1997, edited in standard def, output to 35mm from SD, and that was the 35mm print. The DVD and Blu-ray besides this new edition was a video transfer from that 35mm print. This is the best version,”

This is the kind of stuff Hannu’s missus has to recite back to him to get him rock hard and ready for action!

Amps that’s too close to the truth. I love shit like this. 😂

Homegrove Horror movies never bother me, this one scares the shit out of me. When I originally saw it in the theatre, I was still in university and living at home, my parents were away and we lived beside a few lots of trees (nothing you could call a forrest after the age of 8). I was so freaked out I made one of my friends stay over because I wasn’t facing night alone. 😂

The Monkey. It was more of a comedy than I was expected from reading the Stephen King short story when I was 15, and was initially a little disappointed, but it was stupid and funny with plenty of proper LOL moments. 7/10

The Gorge (2025). Anya Taylor Joy and Miles Teller are so charismatic, that they added at least one star to this turd.

So much of this has been done before, the bottom of the gorge was a Last of Us/ Stranger Things-hybrid, and Sigourney Weaver basically did her character in Paul again. Even the score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross sounded like stuff they had left over from doing Fincher-movies.

                French Connection II (1975)

This was on my watch list before Hackman passed away (I only saw the first movie very recently, which was excellent).

It’s probably an unnecessary sequel but it was still a good film. Hackman had some talent didn’t he?

The action scenes were stilted at times, but the story was good. Best scene was Popeye going cold turkey.

7 out of 10 for me
