Homegrove Liked the original but I was about 8 when I saw it. I’m not sure I’d enjoy it now and haven’t bought tickets for that reason. Keeping an open mind though and waiting for the reviews to come in…

Wasily if you hesitate even a bit about being able to enjoy childish humor now I would not recommend it.

Also one thing to add, did not spot more than one homage to the old movies, and one cameo and both were a blink and you’ll miss it moments, so I appreciated how all the jokes were new, just written in the same stule.

The new naked gun is good fun, true to the originals. Well worth a watch for the nostalgia factor. Will probably be horrific if you dont have the context of the earlier ones.

Wally Kermode reckoned it didn’t work because Neeson is in on the jokes / playing them up instead of being a straight man like Neilson.

I thought he was just as straight (ahem) as Nielsen.

Sinners (2024) 5/10

As @Homegrove has said above it’s a black Dusk ’til Dawn. Didn’t really do anything for me though and the editing made me feel they were trying to cram in a nod to almost everything from Carpenter to Coen’s to MJ’s Thriller.

Kids go missing…

Without getting into spoiler territory this was good fun and builds tension well through some clever storytelling through different perspectives. I haven’t seen Barbarian so the closest likeness for me was that of a Jordan Peele movie- Julia Garner and Josh Brolin both in fine form. A lot of critics have drawn parallels with school shootings in the US but that didn’t immediately jump out at me. Worth a watch 👍.

No Hard Feelings (2023). Fully naked Jennifer Lawrence fighting teenagers. They don’t make a lot or r-rated studio comedies like these anymore. This was very good hangover entertainment, but I doubt I’ll ever watch it again.

New Jaws-doc on Disney+ is alright if you don’t know everything about making that movie already. Like I do. That Spielberg had actual PTSD after making that film was about the only thing that was new to me about it.

A mate told me about it, said it got 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, so I thought I’d check it out, as nothing can be THAT bad.

Well I was wrong. It is fucking awful, switched it off after 10 mins
