The Long Walk (2025) (One for @Homegrove )
I think they did as good a job as possible given the fact that this is essentially a film about 50 boys walking along a road. There isnt really much outside of that premise that they could explore. I’m glad the violence wasnt dumbed down, but I was annoyed at some of the casting - especially the McVries character. There was also a lot of banter/chuckles between them all, which was a departure from the book and wouldnt really be realistic in that setting.
Enough wasnt made of how exhausted they would be after just one day of walking - let alone 4 or 5. On day 5 McVries and Garraty are happily chatting away as if they’d just started out.
And talking about the book - wtf was with the ending? Why on earth did they deviate from the book. Really annoyed me as everything else had been almost spot on to the book.
Up until the last 5 mins I’d have said a 7 out of 10 but the ending ruined it, so a 5/10 for me.
