Batman (1989)

The best Batman and the best Joker IMO. Does admittedly look dated but it’s a great film. Does make me chuckle at the clause Nicholson insisted on to leverage a massive payout. And he absolutely delivered.

gcw as a fan of the comics the best Batman-movie is 2021’s The Batman, it got the character and Gotham the most right.
But the two Tim Burton Batman-films are awesome Tim Burton-movies, and I enjoy them immensily. Batman Returns might be his best movie.

Heathers (1989).
Arrow Video 4K Blu ray. The first movie I’ve ever bought because of a Hot Ones-interview. Winona Ryder said in her’s that this script was the best she’s ever read, and she’s got a point. At one point a teacher tells a teenager “Whether to kill yourself or not is one of the most important decisions a teenager can make.” And then there’s also the infamous “Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw.”
I loved this. Super dark high school-comedy that made me laugh a lot.

Citizen Kane

Multi billionaire confesses on his deathbed to wanting his old life / childhood / family over his wealth. This was probably investigated as communist propaganda too.

In truth, it’s not the great film it’s regularly made out to be; melodrama, bit of an odd edit, somewhat disjointed, and lacking any real story for the most part.

The original conspiracy movie? Dunno. Hitchcock at the height of his powers. Jimmy Stewart doesn’t want to shack up with Grace Kelly and needs his head seeing too.

Dan I watched North by Northwest for the first time this year, he’s great with the sets too (which Rear Window will certainly show you), I was so bummed to find out the house at the end of that was not real.
