Watched The Roses last night. Some funny bits, but overall fairly shit. 6/10

Well worn plot, some of the death sequences were entertainingly orchestrated, but that’s about it.

Jesus. What a film. The build is relentless. Such well thought out plot, and brilliant, brilliant acting.

Had tears streaming down my face when the kid goes to see his dad.

My 15 year old loved it too.

As an added bonus it ran over all the midnight bollocks too 🎉

Got this from Apple because it was on sale there. I thought I must have seen this on TV when I was a child, but I logged this as a first watch because I could not remember any of it, besides what I’ve seen of it in other movies (like When Harry Met Sally).
For a film that’s over 80 years old this does not feel like it at all. They really were cooking with gas when this was made.
